Get Ready NYC, It’s Pride Week!

It’s time to pick out your outfit, grab some friends and a rainbow flag and party because next week is one of the most anticipated events in the LGBT community, PRIDE Week. From marching in the parade to rocking with Demi Lovato on the pier, this year there is no shortage of events to celebrate.

After the fun filled week, the month of July will host a number of performances of HOT! at Dixon Place, located at 161A Chrystie Street. In its 23rd year, the festival has become one of the longest running LGBTQ performance festivals and includes dance, music, art and activities for the whole family. Some of participants include Faux Pas le Fae, a dance and transgender performer and Dandy Darkly one of Edinburgh’s famous alternative-cabaret storyteller.

The mecca of gay nightlife and lodging in NYC, The OUT NYC will be hosting numerous events that will make anyone feel pride-tastic. Kickoff the weekend at BPM’s CLICK on June 27th and get ready to dance as the official DJ’ of Pride Week Ivan Gomez and Tony Moran spin their best hits. Throughout the weekend BPM will be hosting parties including, The Ultimate Dance Party and Love is Stronger than Pride with the legendary Junior Vasquez, Lydia Rhodes and a performance from Jason Walker.

After recovering from some late night dancing, people can head over to see the ladies of The Haus of Mimosa at KTCHN, who will have people non-stop laughing at brunch. There is a $30 prix-fixe menu, which includes French toast with blueberry compote, classic eggs benedict, and baby spinach egg white omelet. Not only is the food delicious but there are unlimited mimosas, which is impossible to turn down.

Pride Week is not just filled with constant dancing and drinking…for people seeking a more relaxing way of enjoying their pride, get tickets to see Hannah and Maggie perform. A young folk act from NYC and Northampton, MA, these girls are compared to The Indigo Girls and Simon and Garfunkel. Hannah and Maggie will be performing at Posture Magazine Pride Concert at Fontana’s on June 26th and Arlene’s Grocery on June 27th.

Whether people will be dancing at BPM, having mimosas at The OUT NYC or enjoying the folk music of Hannah and Maggie, it will be a weekend full of guaranteed fabulous fun for Pride 2014. And, of course, don’t get to check out additional happenings during Pride Week here.
