David Burke is without a doubt one of my favorite chefs in the city. He has a handful of successful restaurants, all with incredibly delicious and creative food. Recently, David Burke at Bloomingdale’s (also known as Burke in the Box) was renovated and just re-opened last week to the pleasure of shoppers everywhere.

The upgraded restaurant debuted a new layout with a cafe style set-up and dual-sided dining room and bar. The furniture has been updated, additional counter seating has been added, as well as an open kitchen, as well as the introduction of a new color palette and expanded take-out section for easy access for guests on the go.

In addition to changes in looks, the restaurant has also revamped their menu, which features both lunch and dinner, as well as brunch on the weekends. Executive chef Jose Max Lavariega has perfected the art of comfort food with both light bites and indulgent dishes, including Lobster Wedge Salad, Grilled Fish Tacos, The Juicy Burger, and Maple Glazed Double Cut Bacon (which is possibly the best bacon in the whole world). Desserts also make their mark on the menu with signature specialties like the Cheesecake Lollipop Tree and Kitchen Sink Sundae.

Cocktails at this joint aren’t settling for average either. Creative concoctions like the Basil & Gin Sizzle, Espresso Martini and Lychee Cosmo garnished with bacon are just the tip of the iceberg. The restaurant, conveniently located just inside Bloomingdale’s gives shoppers a comfortable oasis reprieve from shopping, whether they want to sit down and eat or grab something to go. It’s also convenient for those working near by to pop in and snag something tasty. Also new to Burke in the Box are specialty wine dinners, Fancy Friday’s and live musical entertainment.

Lunch is served from 11:00am-5:00pm Monday-Sunday with select brunch offerings. Dinner hours are 5:00pm-9:30pm Monday-Saturday and 5:00pm-8:30pm on Sunday. Grab-and-go hours are from 10:00am-5:00pm Monday-Sunday.
