An Indian Take Out Spot Worth Every Bite

by

Patiala

On the corner of 9Th avenue and 34th street lies Patiala, an adorable Indian take out spot that serves up traditional Punjabi cuisine and delivers it fast and fresh! Patiala has a simple, stylish, and delicious menu that is convenient for every dietary preference and has a wide range of items to choose from.

The lunch boxes offered are perfect for more than one meal, and are so worth saving. The nan is warm and easy to break apart and dip in many of the dishes including the lamb, which was cooked perfectly over a bed of Basmati Rice and a side of Cumin Spiced Potatoes, Roasted Curry Cauliflower and more delicious potatoes. Now, if you don’t feel like overloading the carbs like I did, then go for their delectable vegetable dishes, which are fresh, fragrant, and absolutely irresistible.

If you aren’t too full, or decide to save half of your lunch or dinner for another time, you must try the Gulab Juman, which are milk and cheese balls coated in sugar syrup. This dessert is one that you cannot “knock it till you try it,” because wow, you will fall in love with the sweet, citrusy, flavors of these bite size desserts!

Definitely more of a take out spot rather than a full sit down restaurant, Patiala is pleasantly surprising with their generous portion size, potato dishes cooked to order, and fresh baked nan made right before your eyes. If you plan to eat there, however, you will certainly get to know your neighbor, as there are about 6 seats along a dark wooden bar in this adorably quaint restaurant.

Patiala is located at 371 W. 34th Street.
