How to Complete Your Daunting Reading List in 2016

January is the time of year when everyone jump starts their New Year’s resolutions. Personally, I don’t really believe in resolutions. If there’s something you want to change in your life or a goal you want to achieve, I think you should start it right away and not wait for a New Year to begin. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t things that I want to accomplish in 2016. For example, thanks to GoodReads, I set myself an insane reading goal for the year. For some reason I thought reading 100 books in a year sounded doable. Then I saw one of my friends put her goal as 12 and I realized that in order to read 100 books in a single year, I’d need to read 8+ books a month. Kind of crazy. Now, I love reading as much as anybody, but I suddenly realized I was in way over my head. How would I complete my reading goal? Would books on tape help me? Probably not too much. And then it hit me – movies!

While it probably doesn’t technically count as reading a book, many films are based upon novels, and instead of taking days and days of reading to complete, a movie only takes a couple hours to watch. (I’m sure this is the trick many students use to get their “reading” done.) Nevertheless, I figure that between actual reading and watching movies, I can hopefully make it to “reading” 100 “books” this year. Ha!

Verizon FiOS, as you may know, has a ton of movies on demand. More than any other network I’ve encountered! After browsing through their seemingly never-ending library, I’ve created a list of movies based on books that I’ve either seen, want to see, or have read. If you find yourself struggling to get through page after page of reading material, or simply need a break from those reading glasses, tuning in to FiOS will provide with a much needed break, and plenty of entertainment!
