It’s Officially Rooftop Season in the City

Another day, not just another rooftop bar. Officially opened for the summer, the Roof at Park South, brings a chic outdoor oasis to New Yorkers just in time for warmer weather. Discreetly nestled above the Park South Hotel, this seasonal rooftop bar is just the ticket to get outside this summer.

Unlike many of the coveted rooftop spots in the city that jack up prices and serve underwhelming food and drinks, the Roof at Park South prides itself on delivering on your expectations. The limited bar menu was created by James Beard Award-winning Chef Tim Cushman, with options like the satisfying hummus and pita, grilled shrimp tacos, glazed baby back ribs, truffle fries and grilled edamame.

Cocktails here run the gamut, ranging from frozen to classic to non-alcoholic. They even serve large format cocktails made for sharing with friends. Boat Shoes tends to be a summer favorite, made with rosé, Plantation 3 Star, basil, lemon, Novo Fogo Cachaça and strawberry, while we enjoyed the Whiskey Smash, made with Weller Reserve Bourbon, Rittenhouse Rye, lemon, mint and rosemary.

More adventurous options include Tea Leaves (Aviation and Beefeater Gin, Hakkaisan Junmai Sake, lemon, and jasmine white tip tea), Match Point (Tito’s Vodka, Don Q Cristal Rum, mint tea, lemon and matcha) and Mynah Bird (Plantation Xaymaca Rum, Amontillado Sherry, lemon, Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaco and almond). However, their classics offer options for every palate.

The intimate rooftop doesn’t just offer up snacks and libations, however — one of the big draws of this space is the space itself. Draped in greenery, the Roof at Park South has partial overhead coverage, warming fireplaces, an umbrella lounge, and a delightful floral wall, not to mention views of both the Chrysler and Empire State Buildings.

See you there!
