Marco Polo

Marco Polo Ristorante in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, just celebrated an iconic anniversary in the restaurant industry. Thirty (30) years this beloved Italian restaurant has won the hearts and stomachs of locals, families, and generations of New Yorkers. Joseph Chirico, the owner, immigrated in 1964 where he then founded Marco Polo Ristorante. People thought he was crazy for opening a fine dining restaurant in this location, but his passion, persistence, and love of great food and wine has made him the success he is today.

For their anniversary celebration, Chef Marco (his son) and Joseph presented guests with an hors d’oeuvres and cocktail hour followed by a three course wine pairing dinner. The cocktail hour was full of friends, family, and loyal Marco Polo customers. Sparkling Falanghina was served with a table full of grilled octopus skewers, crostini, prosciutto, salami, and a raw oyster & clam bar! Attendees included the Borough President, who was there to celebrate this iconic evening.

For the Donnachiara wine pairing dinner, guests were served Fluke Crudo with Citrus, Wild Boar and Crawfish Ravioli, Lamb Chops and Filet Mignon, and for dessert, Chocolate and Apricot Mousse. The wine pairings were absolutely perfect and brought out the best in the dishes. Chef Marco is an incredible chef and wonderful son who makes his father proud with the dishes he serves.

Marco Polo features delicious tasting menus and has a special going on for customers who could not attend the event. The restaurant is offering a special menu running through Friday, June 28th.  It will be a three-course prix fixe for $30 per person and will feature several classic Marco Polo dishes throughout the decades.
