Speakeasy Moderne: An Enchanting Evening of Cabaret

by

Stunning vocals, sensual burlesque, and world-class entertainment — that is what you can expect to find at Speakeasy Moderne, a monthly show taking place at Stage 72. During this unforgettable evening, you will witness outstanding singers (seriously record deal-worthy), sultry burlesque acts, a hula hooping god, and much more. As the name implies, Speakeasy Moderne puts a modern twist on the illicit speakeasy. With a rotating acts, (including Sonja Morgan) the show stands out from others as it features a fantastic blend of Jazz Age Manhattan with vaudeville, cabaret and some fun drag acts. Unlike other shows, expect to participate in this show-turned-party and get up and dance and drinks with the performers once the show comes to an end.

Hank Stampfl, your charming MC for the evening, dazzles the audience with an award-winning smile, great song, and many laughs. At this month’s performance, attendees were wowed by award-winning recording artist and songwriter Todd Alsup, who had one of the most breathtaking voices I’ve ever heard, as well as Dina Fanai, another amazing vocalist. Drag queen extraordinaire Dallas DuBois enchanted attendees with her memorable song and dance routines, while Daniel Darwin did a magnificent job of amping up the crowd with his remarkable hula hooping talent (you have to see it to believe it). Also donning the stage was renowned cellist, David Eggar, showcasing his incredible talents. I can’t rave enough about how much fun an evening at Speakeasy Moderne is. Other talented cast members include Lynsey Buckelew, Kristin Ewing, Shari Katz, Amber Williams, Jackie Washam, Tommy Scrivens, Ashley Arcemont and Kimberly Schafer.

Forget your typical night at the bar and drink in style with fun cocktails while you watch the show (shots are also encouraged). Ticket prices range from $15-$100 and can purchased here. The next show will take place on July 25th and we highly recommend that you be there.
