Stunning Jewelry for a Good Cause

What’s the only thing better than buying a stunning piece of jewelry? Well, buying it and knowing the proceeds are going to charity, of course! Sophie Lasry, daughter of American Hedge Fund Manager Mac Lasry, recently became the face of Marina B. To celebrate the new ambassadorship, on May 6th, Sophie hosted an event bringing together Marina B and 100 Women in Hedge Funds to raise funds for Action on Addiction, a London-based charity whose patron is Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Cambridge. After attending the London 100 Women In Hedge Funds’ charity event supporting Action on Addiction, Sophie wanted to contribute to their important work. Founded in 2007, Action on Addiction’s vision is to help free people from addiction through a variety of ways including prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.

Although the Midtown East store is fairly new, Marina B. is a name we all are very familiar with. Founded in 1978 by Marina Bulgari, after she left her famous grandfather’s Italian jewelry company, Marina B. has been capturing the attention of jewelry lovers all over the world. Some of Marina B.’s famous clientele includes Sophia Loren, Julia Roberts, Mila Kunis, and Alicia Keys. Inspired by both the art of her legendary jewelry design and coupled with a new contemporary vision, today Marina B. incorporates a signature design with a modern twist.

The charitable event was held at the beautiful midtown Marina B. boutique where servers passed tasty hors d’oeuvres and speciality drinks, named Lady Sophie, in honor of the lovely host. Guests were encouraged to purchase jewelry, where thirty percent of the proceeds were generously donated to Action on Addiction.

To kick off the campaign, an oversized billboard of Sophie Lasry, wearing Marina B’s legendary Cardan necklace, sits above the Marina B. boutique on Madison Avenue. Sophia’s campaign, which was shot by famed photographer Fadil Berishsa, will roll out this summer.
