Up Your Supplement Game with Gaia Herbs

Sometimes you can’t get all the nutrients you need through food alone. That’s where supplements come in. It’s really important when choosing supplements to do your research on the company and products you choose. That’s why I’ve been loving Gaia Herbs lately. They are very transparent about what they put into their products, you can even go to their website and ‘Meet Your Herbs’ where you can not only take a virtual tour of their farm, but also enter your product ID number to see “all the traceable aspects of each herbal component of your product.” It really helps to give you peace of mind with what you’re putting into your body.

One of my favorite supplements of theirs is Turmeric Supreme. A few years ago, I learned about what a great spice turmeric is, but it’s a unique flavor and it’s the curcumin contained in turmeric that really has the powerful health benefits, so using spice alone in your food won’t do much. That’s why I was so excited to try this turmeric supplement! Turmeric is known for being anti-inflammatory, contain powerful antioxidants, improves brain function and lowers the risk of brain diseases, has anti-aging and cancer fighting properties, and even helps with depression. Honestly, what can’t it do?

And if that’s not enough, you can always add some Golden Milk to the mix! Golden Milk is actually an old Ayurvedic recipe, but Gaia Herbs has streamlined the kitchen process and turned it into a convenient powder that you simply need to add to your favorite heated milk. Golden Milk contains turmeric, along with other herbs like black pepper, cardamom, vanilla and ashwagandha. You already know the many benefits of turmeric, but these additional herbs have their rewards, too. Black pepper helps with absorption of the herbs, while vanilla helps to boost mood (and enhance taste). Cardamom is a really great spice that helps aid digestion and ashwagandha is an adaptogen, meaning that it helps the body adapt to both emotional and physical stressors, beneficial to your overall wellbeing.

Since I’ve been training for the NYC Half Marathon, I’ve been loving Gaia Herb’s Maca Powder. There aren’t many performance enhancers that don’t contain caffeine and this one doesn’t, which is so amazing. As someone who doesn’t drink caffeine apart from a cup of tea here and there, this is really a great alternative to so many other caffeine-filled products. This powder mixture of maca helps promote energy and vitality and a small scoop can easily be added to your daily protein shake.

vitex_berry

Last but not least, I’ve also been enjoying Vitex Berry supplements. I had never heard of this berry, which comes from the Chaste Tree, which is great for women’s health. It helps to support hormone production and balance and is often prescribed to help with the symptoms of PMS, menstrual difficulties and infertility.

While these are the supplements I’ve currently been taking, Gaia Herbs has a ton of others to choose from. Probably even some you’ve never heard of before.
