Warning: Sugar Overload Ahead

by

Sugar Factory

Famous Las Vegas hot spot Sugar Factory has opened up shop in the beloved Meatpacking District in New York City. Those looking for a boozy beverage, topped with decadent dessert, need not look further than this happening new restaurant. They are widely known for their candy-inspired goblets, but that’s not all they serve. Manhattan with a Twist went in for a visit and we sure loved it!

Lollipop Passion 36-Ounce Goblet

We started with their signature goblet, the Lollipop Passion ($36), which is a mix of melon, coconut and pineapple, adorned with lollies and candy. Each goblet is poured right at your table and bubbles and smokes with dry ice. While I don’t know what liquor(s) the goblet holds, I can tell you that if you like a good Whiskey Sour, then you will enjoy the slightly sour taste of the Lollipop Passion. With a jaw-dropping cocktail menu consisting of 8 goblets, 5 martinis, 12 chocolate martinis and 6 cocktails, you have the decision of a lifetime to make over what you will be drinking. Each drink plays homage to some of your favorite childhood indulgences — from Blow Pops to rootbeer, all the way to Hubba Bubba! From the cocktail section, we tried the Cherry Tootsie Pop ($14), made with a mix of chocolate and cherry vodka, Godiva Milk Chocolate Liqueur, cherry puree, and of course, topped with the candy itself. While this really did taste almost just like the real thing, make sure to save it for last because it sure is filling. It goes without saying that you have to try something from their chocolate martini section and the Reese’s ($16) sure hit the spot. How exactly they pull off this boozy version of the best candy ever is beyond me, but it sure was heavenly.

Now I know what you’re thinking…how the heck are you supposed to drink so much without falling over? Sugar Factory actually has an equally large menu of food to soak up the suds. Fun items include the Fried Macaroni and Cheese Pops ($11), the divine Baked Brie wrapped in Pastry Puff ($13), and the Signature Sugar Factory Burger ($16). Make sure not to fill up on dinner though, because you will definitely want to save room for dessert. Red Velvet Cake ($11), Rocky Road Fondue ($28 for 2), Fluffier Nutter Milkshake ($10) and Chocolate Blackout Sundaes ($15) will surely make your head spin…the right choice? Any of them. Will you be disgustingly full? Yes. Will you be in a full-blown sugar coma? Yes. Will it be totally worth it? Hell yes.

Now all we have to do is go back for breakfast and get our hands on some of those waffles and crepes!

Sugar Factory is located at 46 Gansevoort Street.
