We Got Baked with BOBO’s

Living in New York City I’m always on the go, so it’s important to me to find healthy, wholesome snacks that are easy to grab on my way out the door. I recently discovered BOBO’s Oat Bars and was instantly obsessed. Founder Beryl Stafford created the company back in 2003 out of Boulder, Colorado while baking in the kitchen with her daughter (whose nickname inspired the brand name). The company really exudes that homemade, family feel of baked goods, with satisfying and healthier options than more mainstream brands.

The oat bars are super filling so they are great for on-the-go snacking between meals. They come in 15 different flavors, like maple pecan, coconut almond, and lemon poppyseed. They also sell bite-sized bites, as well as nut-butter-filled bars (so good!). Additionally, they recently launched their new Toast’r pastries, which are an amazing alternative to sugary pop-tarts. The warm oat crust is filled with jam or nut butter and makes for a delicious morning treat. They come in four flavors, including blueberry lemon poppyseed (our favorite), strawberry jam, chocolate almond and chocolate peanut butter.

We spent an afternoon baking these simple bars with Stafford last month and got to go home with warm, fresh from the oven oat bars. I can see why they’ve become so popular! Luckily, they are now available nationwide at places like Whole Foods, Wegmans and Krogers. Best of all, their bars are gluten-free, vegan, kosher and non-GMO project verified, so they are great for those with dietary restrictions, as well. They’ve found a lifelong customer in me!
