WWGD – What Would Gatsby Do?

by

In celebration of The Great Gatsby coming out in theaters this May, we thought about what the Gatsby himself would do if he were to be found wandering around the streets of current day New York. Make sure to stop by these two renowned hotels to make all your Gatsby dreams come true.

The Great Gatsby

As The Plaza Hotel plays a major role both in the film and book, not to mention the life of author F. Scott Fitzgerald, it’s only fitting that the iconic hotel is pulling out all the stops in honor of the movie’s premiere. The hotel has recently created The Fitzgerald Suite, inspired by Baz Luhrmann’s interpretation of The Great Gatsby and designed by Catherine Martin. Located on the 18th floor, the art deco space will channel the Jazz Age with authentic, period-inspired pieces from RH. Photos from the film, images of Fitzgerald and the author’s complete works will be displayed around the room. Reservations will be accepted for stays starting on May 10th. Currently, the hotel is displaying props and original costumes worn by the cast of the film. Not only that, but the hotel Boutique is also currently offering a wide selection of items inspired by the film, including a limited edition handkerchief, bar ware, exclusive framed prints from Michael Storrings, and more. Venture to the Caudalie Vintherapie Spa from custom Caudalie Grape Gatsby Treatments to cure last night’s affair. Still not satisfied? The iconic Champagne Bar is now transformed into a Moet Pop-Up, showcasing Moet Imperial and a deliciously crafted cocktail. Stop by on Wednesday or Thursday evenings for Gatsby Hour at The Rose Club, which features a Speakeasy Menu (complete with cocktails served in flasks) and a live jazz band. Located in Greenwich Village resides The Jade Hotel, a hidden gem that pays homage to the 1920s with it’s Art Deco style, complete with rotary phones and a library. Even the hotel’s restaurant Grape & Vine is reminiscent of a speakeasy. Just in time for the movie release, The Jade Hotel will be offering a Gatsby Getaway package, which is available until May 31st. Included in the package are standard room accommodations, a complimentary Gatsby cocktail at Grape & Vine at check-in, a copy of The Great Gatsby on loan in your room, reimbursement of two Great Gatsby movie tickets, as well as a neighborhood guide map. Rate begin at $350. For more information, click here.
