Get Out the Sunscreen: 5 Outdoor Dining Options

by

It might be rainy this week,  but we know Spring has sprung and Summer is right around the corner. Where can a person go to enjoy both delicious eats and those UV rays we are all deprived of? Check out five of our favorites below!

Sugar and Plumm

For those on the UWS, head to Sugar and Plumm, which just added 50 additional seats to their sidewalk cafe this Spring. The restaurant is open for all meals and offers delicious options such as eggs benedict, cobb wedge salad, apple pie, and s’mores. Sugar and Plumm is located at 377 Amsterdam Avenue.

David Burke Garden

The Garden by David Burke, located at The James New York, is one of the largest outdoor spaces in the city and overlooks the streets of SoHo. The outdoor space offers creative Burke dishes such as pretzel crab cakes and specialty burgers, not to mention out of this world sweets like apple pie and bourbon milkshakes by Zac Young. Additionally, every Sunday The Garden will host ‘Swine & Wine,’ a $39 dinner where guests can choose from a selection of appetizers, feast on suckling pig and enjoy the good weather. The Garden is located at 23 Grand Street.

Gemma

A popular outdoor dining spot in the city, Gemma at The Bowery Hotel serves up authentic Italian dishes all day long. Munch on smalls bites like burrata cheese, tomato and black olive pizza and enjoy a refreshing cocktail, such as the Brooklyn Boy or Mexican Mule. Dining on this sidewalk sanctuary will really make you feel like you’re in Italy. Gemma is located at 335 Bowery.

Plunge Rooftop

If you’re feeling swanky, head to Plunge Rooftop Bar & Lounge at Gansevoort Meatpacking for 360-degree views of the Hudson and all of Manhattan. There is both indoor and outdoor terrace seating, as well as a fully landscaped garden. Order up a lobster BLT or shrimp and mango skewers along with a cocktail as you dine by the rooftop pool. Talk about relaxing! Plunge Rooftop is located at 18 Ninth Avenue.

Aamanns-Copenhagen

Our favorite Danish restaurant, Aamanns-Copenhagen, has introduced outdoor seating for the Spring and Summer seasons. Not only that, but along with dining outdoors, you can order new smørrebrød varieties and additional beers, including Evil Twin Pilsener. Aamanns-Copenhagen is located at 13 Laight Street.
