The partnership between fashion and social awareness is nothing new, but if you’re not familiar with Naja Lingerie, you will be impressed. They not only produce a beautifully-designed lingerie collection, but they are challenging the way we market to women and hire them.
Named “one of 5 top brands to watch” by The Lingerie Journal, Naja’s founder, Catalina Girald, teamed up with Golden Globe Award-winning actress and star of Jane the Virgin, Gina Rodriguez, to start a campaign to empower women. Specifically, Catalina only employs single women and heads of households in Columbia in her factories to provide a better way of life for them. She’s able to do this because she bought her own factory to cut out the markup that lingerie brands traditionally pay to factories. If that’s not badass enough for you, Naja also aims to “disrupt the way lingerie is marketed toward women by creating a brand that seeks to empower women instead of objectifying them.” You won’t find models with fake wind-blown hair in their marketing campaigns, appealing to men instead of women.
The collection is elegant, with whimsical prints and fashion-forward cuts. Naja also features quality, eco-friendly fabrics, and fine details such as beautifully lined interiors and hidden inspirational quotes. There’s nothing more I love than shopping for lingerie. Knowing that I’m supporting badass women empowering other accomplished and sexy women, makes my lingerie purchases that more special. Now this is a brand we can get behind!
