A Charming Retreat on the Upper West

One of the many wonderful things about the city is that there are so many museums and exhibits to take advantage of. Sometimes, however, a day of culture can lead to hunger and so we love that there’s a fantastic restaurant located within the New York Historical Society to keep guests satiated. Caffé Storico of Stephen Starr fame, is a great spot to dine whether or not you are spending your day at the museum.

Last week, we attended a special tasting event at the restaurant, where we were able to sample dishes from the menu and learn about upcoming exhibitions at the museum. We were greeted with the restaurant’s spin on a Bellini, a delicious bubbly cocktail that we ended up enjoying all night long. We then sidled our way up to the bar, which housed an assortment of breads, cheeses, veggies and meats to snack on. While mingling with other guests, the waitstaff passed around small plates and appetizers. There was no shortage of bread, which accompanied many of the appetizers, but no one was complaining. We especially enjoyed the Ricotta Crostini topped with truffle honey and cape gooseberries. Other items included Foie Gras Montato, Lamb Rack Scottadito, Rigatoni, and our favorite of the evening, Short Rib & Foie Gras Agnolotti, with a parmesan froth and balsamic reduction. The evening was capped off with a winning Tiramisu, served in an adorable coffee cup.

The authentic Italian fare served at Caffé Storico is not only very enjoyable, but also quite reasonably priced. It is the perfect destination for lunch or dinner on the Upper West Side.

Caffé Storico is located at 170 Central Park West.
