Celebrate National Tequila Day with These Tasty Cocktails

July 24th marks National Tequila Day. I mean, it’s not like we need an excuse to throw back some tequila, but if they give us a special day for it, we might as well celebrate. Perfectly landing right in the middle of summer, National Tequila Day takes place on a Sunday this year and if you stock up on all the appropriate supplements in advance, it’ll be nothing but smooth sailing (er, tequila) all weekend long. Here are some tasty tequila cocktail recipes you can easily recreate at home to celebrate:

Mogul
0.5 oz. Lime Juice
1.25 oz. Prickly Pear Puree
0.5 oz. 2:1 Agave Syrup (2 Parts Agave nectar, 1 part water by weight)
1.5 oz. Gran Coramino

Add ice into cocktail shaker. Combine all ingredients into cocktail shaker. Shake and strain into a stemless flute glass. Enjoy!

Cincoro Blanco Agua Fresca de Sandia
2 oz. Cincoro Blanco
2 oz. Fresh Watermelon Juice
.5 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
.25 oz. 1:1 Simple Syrup*

Shake & strain into highball glass rimmed with kosher salt. Garnish with lime or watermelon wedge. (*1:1 Simple Syrup: Combine 1 cup white sugar and 1 cup water and whisk/stir until fully dissolved. Label, date & keep in refrigerator).

3 oz. Fresh Victor Mexican Lime & Agave
1.5-2 oz. blanco or reposado tequila, or mezcal
Lime Wedge (optional garnish)
Salt (optional rim)

Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker full of ice, shake well, and strain over fresh ice in a short glass or up into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime wedge (Salted rim optional–use fine grain salt and only apply salt to the outside rim, avoiding salt inside the glass as this will keep your drink from becoming too salty).

1.5 oz. Libelula Tequila
0.5 oz. Aperol
1.5 oz. Fresh Pineapple Juice
2 Dashes of Orange Bitters
Mint Sprig

Shake all ingredients. Double Strain before pouring into your favorite glass. Garnish with Pineapple wedge and Pineapple leaf. Serve and enjoy.

JAJA Cold Brew
2 oz. JAJA Añejo
2 oz. cold brew coffee
Tonic sparkling water, to top

Combine all ingredients in a highball glass with ice. Garnish with a lemon wheel.

2 oz. Tequila Blanco infused with seasonal chiles (arbol, guajillo)
1 oz. lime juice
0.5 oz. agave
Garnish: Half-rim spicy salt

Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker, add ice, hard shake, strain over fresh ice.

The Rita Rita
2 oz. Próspero Blanco Tequila
1.25 oz fresh strawberries, pureed
1 bar spoon balsamic vinegar
.5 oz. orange liqueur
.75 oz lime juice
1 oz. wildflower honey
3-4 leaves fresh basil

Pour Próspero Blanco Tequila, strawberry puree, balsamic vinegar, orange liqueur, lime juice and honey into a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously. Strain into a margarita glass and garnish with fresh basil leaves.

8 oz. Espolon Tequila
4 oz. Cocchi Americano
4 oz. Campari
8 oz. mango syrup
6 oz. lime juice
7.5 oz. water
16 dashes Hellfire Bitters
Garnish: Fresh cut lime wheels

Combine all ingredients in a Vitamix and blend for smooth consistency. Add 4″ x 6″ block of ice to the pineapple punch bowl and cover completely with crushed ice before adding punch on top.

0.75 oz. cranberry-infused Altos Blanco Tequila
0.75 oz. Lustau white vermouth
0.75 oz. Aperol
1 dash orange blossom water
Garnish: Grapefruit zest

Combine all ingredients in a stirring vessel and stir with ice. Strain into rocks glass with king cube and garnish with grapefruit zest.

Dirty Shirley
1.5 oz. Tequila Don Julio Reposado
1 oz. Grenadine
4-5 oz. Ginger Ale

Fill a highball/Collins glass with ice. Add Tequila Don Julio Reposado and grenadine to the glass. Top with soda and garnish with a luxardo cherry and grapefruit slice. Enjoy!

JAJA Watermelon Limeade
1 ½ oz. JAJA Blanco
2 oz. limeade
Watermelon spiked seltzer, to top

Combine all ingredients in a highball glass with ice and a salt rim. Garnish with a watermelon wedge.

Pica Piña Margarita
1.5oz Fresh Victor Pineapple & Ginger Root
1.5oz Fresh Victor Jalapeño & Lime
1.5-2oz blanco or reposado tequila
Garnish: pineapple wedge, lime wheel, and/or jalapeño wheels

In a cocktail shaker, add all ingredients, fill the shaker with ice, shake well (to chill and dilute) and strain over ice in a 10-12oz glass, garnish and serve.

Mangoneada
1 1/2 oz. Tequila CAZADORES Blanco
1 oz. mango juice or puree
1 oz. lime juice
1/2 oz. agave nectar
Chamoy and Tajín rim

In a cocktail shaker, combine all ingredients with ice, shake and serve over ice in a rocks glass with a Tajín and chamoy rim. Garnish: with a mango slice.

1.5 oz. Espolón Blanco Tequila
0.75 oz. Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge
0.5 oz. Passion Fruit Puree (Boiron)
0.5 oz. Lime
0.5 oz. Simple Syrup
Black Salt

Shake all ingredients with ice. Strain and serve in a coupe glass with half rim of black salt. Garnish with half a passion fruit.
