In today’s social media driven world, it seems like every day there’s a new Instagram or Twitter post promoting a new National Food or Drink Day to celebrate. On August 25th, you can join the rest of America’s whiskey lovers by celebrating National Whiskey Sour Day. Traditionally, whiskey sours are made with bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup, and egg whites, but today we enjoy one made with Aberlour Scottish Whisky.

A whiskey sour featuring Scotch is a delightful, refreshing take on a liquor with a very specific stigma attached. Scotch is often viewed as an older man’s drink, something to be enjoyed in the dead of winter, preferably in front of a roaring fire.

That perception has been dispelled with the help of a smooth, approachable whisky like Aberlour. Aberlour single malts are double cask matured for at least 12 years in hand-picked Oloroso Sherry and American Oak casks. Utilizing locally sourced ingredients in the Scottish Highlands, such as the finest barley, and the pure water of the Spey river, Aberlour’s team of experts craft a high-quality product.

At New York City’s chic West Village cocktail bar, The Spaniard, we were able to sample Aberlour whiskey sours, along with a delightful array of small plates.

We highly recommend procuring yourself a bottle and going to town – either at your local pub, or in the comfort of your own home, Aberlour in hand.
