Get It To the Greek at Anassa Taverna

by

Anassa Taverna

Perfectly situated right across the street from Bloomingdale’s, Anassa Taverna is a welcome addition to Midtown. Shoppers can rest their weary feet at the full bar, complete with an ample selection of Greek wines. The new Greek restaurant is headed by Tim Pappas and the team behind Avra. The two-level restaurant transports diners straight to Greece with its light and airy atmosphere –exposed brick, white columns, and white drapes completely take you off of the streets of Manhattan and make you feel relaxed, and of course, hungry. Which brings us to the standout cuisine served at Anassa.

Making a selection at the restaurant is not as easy as it seems, as options such as Anassa Chips (paper thin sliced zucchini and eggplant, lightly fried served with tzatziki), Spinach Pie (scallions, leeks, dill and feta cheese wrapped in handmade phyllo dough) and Greek Sausage head the appetizers’ section. Entrees are equally difficult to choose from, with a plethora of fine seafood options, lamb chops, chicken and more, enticing diners to pick more than just one. The seafood is super fresh and cooked to perfection, with fun sauces and seasonings that make your mouth water. Anassa Taverna also offers a raw bar and daily specials to choose from, as well as a prix fixe lunch option, which includes an appetizer, entree and dessert for just $20.13. And speaking of dessert, we recommend you do not skip this necessary part of your meal. With out of this world baklava and unique sorbet flavors such as pear and watermelon, there is no way to go wrong on this menu.

And if you’re looking to imbibe, make sure to check out more than just their wines — their cocktail list has delicious options, like the outstanding Anassatini (Hendricks, elder flower, fresh grapefruit, fresh lime) and signature Anassa Sling (Bombay Sapphire, Cherry Heering Brandy, Cointreau, pineapple, fresh lime, homemade grenadine). Guests can easily spend an entire evening taking in the relaxing atmosphere, great food and strong drinks. And after a day of shopping, there really isn’t a better way to cap off your day!

Anassa Taverna is located at 200 E. 60th Street.
