Last week, a very privileged group of writers were invited to check out some of the companies that will be participating in Nolcha Fashion Week in September at La Marina NYC. Luckily, Manhattan with a Twist was among the lucky group able to attend.

First and foremost, La Marina is a special retreat away from the bustling city. An easy drive or ride on the A train away, La Marina is located all the way up past the George Washington Bridge, giving city dwellers a great reprieve from the chaos without a trek outside of the city. The bar and restaurant is situated right on the water, giving guests an unparalleled view. The bar serves up delicious frozen cocktails, including frozen mojitos and spicy mango margaritas, as well as all your standard options, including beer, wine and liquor. The food won’t disappoint with delicious options like crispy skin salmon, plantains, and rustic chicken. Everything here was very flavorful and enjoyable. The best part of La Marina, is the huge space it comprises, with both indoor and outdoor seating areas, a raw bar served from a boat, and even a beach. Guests can partake in hookah, drinking and fun in the sun and won’t even realize they haven’t left NYC!

With such a great backdrop, you can imagine that previewing Nolcha Fashion Week participants was a fun time. Nolcha Fashion Week shows as part of New York Fashion Week, which will take place this September. Nolcha is a leading award winning event for independent fashion designers to showcase their collections. What can you expect to see at the Fall show? Mariana Valentina will be showcasing elegant, easy to wear dresses and gowns, while The Vanity Project will showcase their unique apparel, which is based on non-profit organizations’ logos. A portion of the proceeds from their fun tees go towards the charity they represent. Luxury handbags by Homanz were on display at the preview and we are excited to see how they will look walking the runway at Fashion Week. House of Horology displayed their fashionable and functional watches that are perfect for the everyday man or woman.

Additionally, guests enjoyed RealBeanz iced coffees, which come in multiple flavors and which will also be available for attendees of Nolcha Fashion Week and ONO Premium Electric Cigarettes, which taste just like a regular cigarette, minus the harmful effects. The cigarettes come in both regular tobacco and menthol flavors, and they also carry electronic Cuban and Cuban Menthol Cigars. How amazing is that?

So after a relaxing day at the magnificent La Marina and discovering new brands, it is safe to say that everyone should not only make a trip to La Marina, but to Nolcha Fashion Week, as well.
